What are the next steps for UMC now that Chancellor Wood has stepped down?
It was recently announced by University of Minnesota President Eric Kaler that
Barbara Keinath (pictured right), Vice Chancellor for Academic and Student
Affairs at UMC, will serve as the interim Chancellor. Keinath, who has been at
UMC since 2013, has worked in tandem with Chancellor Wood on most of the major
campus initiatives. Plans are for her to serve as interim Chancellor until July
2017, when it is anticipated that a new chancellor’s term will begin.
According to Andrew Svec, Director of Communications, Public Relations and
Marketing at UMC, The University of Minnesota has engaged AGB Search to assist
in a national search for a new chancellor, identify a pool of candidates, and
assist with interviews. The firm most recently assisted the University in
finding a candidate to serve as Chancellor at the Morris campus. The search
committee is chaired by long-time UMC faculty member Dan Svedarsky.
