LOCAL NEWS-

The Highland School sixth graders (pictured above) conducted their annual grocery shopping trip Thursday morning to purchase food for the Crookston Community Food Baskets.  The sixth graders brought a whopping $1,452.57 and each class pooled it together and purchased non-perishable food items at Hugo’s Family Marketplace and Walmart. “The kids brought a lot of money,” said Sixth grade teacher Jeff Perreault. “It was definitely another successful year.” After they purchased the food they brought it to the Crookston National Guard Armory where it will be distributed to families in need this Saturday.  “I really enjoyed shopping to give food to homeless people or people that won’t have Christmas dinner,” said sixth grader Libby Salentine. “Some things are expensive and you have to really work for your groceries.  It helps me notice how difficult it is to buy groceries and how hard it is to scrape up that money to buy groceries.”
