LOCAL NEWS-
The Crookston School Board met on Monday evening and announced the school district won an arbitration case against the Crookston Education Association (teachers union).  Crookston School Board chairman, Frank Fee read a statement from the school board and it is below.
About a year ago, an employee (Chad Hitchen) resigned as he was moving away from Crookston. Mr. Hitchen decided he would retire and use retirement language that was in the master contract to get regular retirement benefits, which in previous contracts he would have not been entitled too.  The board and their negotiators were perplexed on how some language had been deleted from the master contract concerning retirement. The board did not agree that Mr. Hitchen should be granted the retirement so a settlement could not be reached and it was sent into arbitration.
