LOCAL NEWS-
Crookston School Board Chairman Frank Fee and Crookston School District Activities Director Greg Garmen appeared on KROX’s Valleytalk program Wednesday morning and talked about a proposal of building a new bus garage, a new football field with artificial turf and track, and an addition of a gym and locker rooms to the back of the school.  The total package price tag would cost in the ballpark of $9 million dollars.  The school board will talk about the plans at their meeting on Monday, July 18 and they are looking for the community input.  Widseth, Smith, Nolting drew up some plans and didn’t charge the school district for the plans.
The first item, and most important, is a new 18 stall bus garage that would be located on the Highland School property.  “The current bus garage is probably over 100 years old and was used as a model T garage so you can imagine how small it is,” said Fee. “There is a lot of things with the bus garage now that causes problems.  When it rains they get flooded.  They have to jerry rig the busses to get them in and out of the garage. We buy stub nose busses now and pay five to eight thousand dollars more so we can fit them in the current garage.”
