LOCAL NEWS-
The Polk County Commissioners met this week in Crookston and approved an amendment to the agreement with the Minnesota Department of Transportation regarding Polk County State Aide Highway 20 in the Sherack area.  80 percent of the project is federally funded with the project costing $992,710.50.  The county will receive $80,000 in federal money in 2016 $80,000 and in 2017 they will receive $714,000 so the commissioners had to approve the amendments.
Mark Dietz, facilities director at the county Justice Center in Crookston brought information on the Justice Center security system that will require some changes.  Tri-County Community Corrections is updating their security system for the jail. “We have to come up with our own system so we are calling for bids,” said Dietz.  “Others projects for the county include the Stenberg building project in Fosston, the heating control project at the Government Building, the server room upgrade in the law enforcement building are still on the list to be done.”
