The Polk County Transfer Station will be open from 7:00 a.m. till noon today, Friday, November 25. There will be no buying of pop cans.

Garbage Collection in Crookston for Friday, November 25 (Thanksgiving Holiday) will be collected on Monday, November 28th.  Monday’s garbage collection will remain the same.  

The Crookston Eagles will have Black Friday $500 Jackpot Bingo with a must go Jackpot starting at 6:00 p.m. tonight. Horse Races will also run throughout the bingo games. Stars in Bars Karaoke will follow.

RiverView Health’s November Health Luncheon  “Winter Ergonomics -- Working Safely this Winter” with RiverView’s Occupational Health Coordinator Tracy Cameron will be Monday, November 28 at noon in Meeting Room #1.  Pre-registration is required. Crookston City Council members will meet on Monday, November 28 at 4:30 p.m. at the UMC Wellness Center for a campus tour and dinner.

The Crookston Special Ways and Means Committee will meet on Monday, November 28 at 6:45 p.m. at UMC in the Bede Ballroom

The Crookston City Council will meet on Monday, November 28 at 7:15 p.m. at UMC in the Bede Ballroom. The Crookston Ways and Means Committee will meet immediately after the City Council  meeting at UMC in the Bede Ballroom.  The meeting will close after the regular agenda to discuss Labor Negotiations. 

Crookston resident Nicole Jacobson will present “Navajo Code Talkers and Their Culture Tuesday, November 29 at noon in Bede Ballroom at UMC. Event is free and all are welcome.

There will be a welcome back/recognition for the Crookston High School fall state participants on Tuesday,  November 29 at 3:30 in the CHS commons. Please plan on joining them.

The community is invited to the Crookston Public Library for a presentation from Minnesota author and historian Steve Hoffbeck, as he shares what life looked like on the home front during World War II and the attack on Pearl Harbor.  This Legacy event will take place Tuesday, November 29 at 6:30 p.m. at the Crookston Public Library. 

The 2nd UMC PechaKucha Night will be Tuesday, November 29 at 7:00 p.m. in the Evergreen Grill. All are welcome and event is free.

Unplug and Play is a free class December 1st from 5:30–6:30pm at Washington School. Ages: Birth to Kindergarten Entrance.  Get out of the house and have some family fun in the gym at Washington School.  A variety of equipment will be available for children and their parents to enjoy and explore together(riding toys, scooters, net games, balls, circle games, etc). For more info and to register,call 281-5078.

The Friends of Rydell and Glacial Ridge Refuges Association Annual Christmas Tree Cutting will be Saturday, December 3, from 9:00 am until 3:30 pm, at the south-central portion of Glacial Ridge National Wildlife Refuge (formerly the Lee Nursery) on Highway 32. Signs will be up along the highway, marking the location. Participants will need to stop at the Glacial Ridge Project Office, located 3 miles south of US Highway 2 on Highway 32,  to register and get a map to the tree cutting site. Bring a hand saw. Coffee, hot apple cider and cookies will be available. Donations will be accepted for trees. In case of a winter storm on December 2, the tree cutting will be held the following Saturday, December 10th, with the same hours. For more info, call  218-687-2229 extension 10.

Winterberry Craft and Vendor Bazaar, hosted by the UMC Horticulture Club and Natural Resources Club, will be Saturday, December 3 from10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Bede Ballroom. Open to the public. The sale will feature handmade gifts, goodies, and great vendors. Purchase unique gift items like jewelry, plants, clothing, toys, bags, food products, crafts, holiday items, and much, much more!

Join UMC student clubs and organizations for a winter wonderland of activities at the annual Santa Land from Noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday, December 3, in Sargeant Student Center. The event will feature many activities for children and the opportunity for photos with Santa Claus, Mrs. Claus and their elves. Event is free and open to the public.

The Crookston Area Chamber Ugly Sweater Party will be Saturday, December 3rd at the Crookston National Guard Armory.  Join as the Chamber celebrates our businesses and our 2016 successes with a delicious dinner, bar & cocktails, live entertainment, auction, awards and so more much! Social, Live Entertainment, and Auction start at 6pm and Dinner and Awards start at 7pm.  Purchase your tickets at the Chamber Office, from a Chamber Board Member, or reserve yours online at the Chamber website.

The Bygland Lutheran Church will have a Lutefisk and Meatball Dinner, Bazaar and Bake Sale on Sunday, December 4th. From 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.  Cost is $15 for adults. The church is located 8 miles south of East Grand Forks on Highway 220.

RiverView Rehab Services will offer free developmental screenings for children birth through age six on Monday, December 5 from 4:00-6:00 pm, at RiverView Clinic East Grand Forks, 1428 Central Ave. NE. Baby and Me is a free class held on December 5th from 5:30-6:30pm at Washington School. Ages: Birth to 12 Months (and Moms & Dads). The RiverView Auxiliary’s Annual Cookie Walk will be Tuesday, December 6th starting at 9:00 am in Heritage Hallway at RiverView Health.  Cookies and candies will be sold by the pound.  Be sure to be there on time as items sell out fast.

St. Joseph Parish Center, 112 Edward Ave NW,  in Red Lake Falls will participate in The Compassionate Friends 20th Annual Worldwide Candle Lighting at 7:00 p.m., Sunday, December 11. It will feature a short service with readings, music, candle lighting and camaraderie. Open Swim at the Crookston Pool will be Monday-Friday 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday & Sunday Noon to 3:00 p.m.
Lap Swimming will be Monday - Friday 6:00 to 9:00 a.m.
Aqua Exercise will be Monday - Friday 9:00 to 10:00 a.m., Monday and Wednesday 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. and Tuesday and Thursday 8:00 - 9:00 p.m.
