A Crookston School Board Working Session will be held to Prioritize Items for the Long Term Facilities Plan for the District at 8:00 a.m. this morning in the Crookston High School Conference Room. No action will be taken at this meeting.
The Golden Link Senior Center will have Foot Care at 8:30 a.m. this morning.

RiverView Health will offer free sports physicals to area school athletes in grades 7-12 July 26th and August 2nd at their North Clinic in Crookston. Athletes should bring a completed and signed MSHSL Sports Qualifying Physical Examination Clearance Form. To make an appointment, call 281-9595.
Parents Helping Parents Support Group will meet tonight from 6:30–8:00 p.m. at the Community Family Service Center located at 1407 Erskine Street, Crookson, MN. Free on-site childcare facilitated by licensed teachers.
The Crookston Public Schools band program is putting on their annual beginning band info night at Highland Elementary School tonight at 7:00 p.m. This is for all new 5th grade students/families who would like to join band. Representatives from Poppler's music will be on hand to get you set up with a new instrument right away. The 5th grade band sign-up is available on the Crookston Music Department's website: crookstonmusic.org. If you have a student going into 5th grade at Highland Elementary, Cathedral School, or Our Savior's Lutheran School you can sign him/her up for band online. Just go to crookstonmusic.org and use the tabs on the left to navigate to the 'Elementary Band' page. Once there, all you need to do is fill out the short online form and you are all registered.

Knights of Columbus Council #1216 will have a business meeting Wednesday, July 27 at 6pm in the Cathedral living room. Council will discuss Night to Unite event and Altar Server Camp. Members encouraged to attend.
CHS Boys Soccer Team will host the annual team information meeting on July 27th, 6:00pm at CHS Commons. Returning players, parents and any interested boys in grades 7 to 12th and their parents will receive a wealth of information about the upcoming season and meet the coaches and captains for the 2016 team.
The Crookston Gun Club will hold a Board and membership meeting Wednesday July 27 at 7:00 p.m. at the Crookston Club House.
A Crookston Public Schools negotiations meeting with the Paraprofessionals will be held on Thursday, July 28th in the Crookston High School Conference Room.
Altru Clinic will be offering school athletic sports physicals and comprehensive musculoskeletal screening on Thursday, July 28 and Wednesday, August 3 from 5:00 to 7:00 for a cost of $35, which will donated back to their school. Crookston P&R Youth Football Camp will be held Monday - Thursday, August 1 - 4 from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at the High School Practice Fields. This is for students going into 4th - 6th Grades. Fee is $50.00 and it is supervised by Scott Butt.
Altru Health System and Safe Kids Grand Forks hold four car seat checkups in the Crookston community each year to ensure car seats are installed properly. Safe Kids Grand Forks partners with Brost Chevrolet and the next event is scheduled for Thurdsay, July 28 from 4:30 – 6 p.m. Anyone using a car seat is welcome to stop at Altru Clinic at any time with questions or when needing assistance with installing a car seat. Altru Clinic of Crookston and Safe Kids Grand Forks also support a free loaner life jacket program, the sale of bike helmets and life jackets. Registration is underway for the Cathedral's Rising Stars Prekindergarten Program at Cathedral School. Introductory pricing for 2016-2017 Rising Stars is $60/month tuition for either 2, 3, or 4 1/2 days per week. Sessions will be either morning or afternoon. A registration deposit of $90 reserves a space in the program. Payment must be made in full at the start of the school year or monthly by electronic funds transfer. School starts August 31, 2016. The 12th Annual Take a Kid Fishing Day is Friday, July 29th. Boys and Girls ages 9 - 15 years old will be going to the Polk County Park on Maple Lake. The bus leaves the Crookston Sports Center at 11:00 a.m. and returns to the CSC at about 7:00 p.m. Along with a day of fishing, each participant gets lunch and a door-prize. No fishing equipment is necessary, but if you have your own, please bring it. The event is free, but registration with P&R is required along with a signed permission slip. Splash Park Painting Party will be Friday, July 29th from 11:00-12:30 at the Lions Shelter at Highland Complex. Ages 4-11. $20.00 per painter, includes step by step instructions to paint an 11x14 canvas, beverage, snack and a small take home gift. The Crookston High School fall sports PAC (parent/athlete/coach) meeting will be Monday, August 1 at 7:00pm in the Crookston High School auditorium. The meeting is for all students planning on playing a fall sport.

The Summer Bible Adventure (SBA) for 2016 is getting ready for its 2016 presentation of "An Ocean Commotion." The SBA is a vacation Bible school for kids, ages 3-11, and will be held at the Evangelical Covenant Church (520 Fisher Ave. in Crookston). We will have games, music, snacks, crafts, laughs, and (of course) great Bible teaching on the theme of, and science behind, Noah's Flood. Join us on August 7-11, between 6 and 8:30 PM each night. The SBA is a cooperative ministry from these Crookston-area congregations: Church of Christ South, Evangelical Covenant Church, First Assembly of God Church, and Valley Christian Fellowship Church.

DNR Hunter Safety Training classes will be held starting August 16th from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Crookston Gun Club. Class is limited to 36 students, so register early. Eat United with free summer meals. Free lunches will be served for all youth ages 0-18 years, Monday through Thursday from 11:30-12:30 at the Lions Shelter at Highland Park Complex. Meals will be served through August 11th but will be closed the week of July 4-7. Adults 19 years and older can eat for $4 a meal. T.H.E. Bus will provide free rides with drops at Highland at 11:45 and pick up at 12:45. For more information on the bus route, contact 281-0700. The Polk County Museum is open Tuesday through Sunday from noon to 4:00. Closed Mondays and holidays.
TOPS means Take Off Pounds Sensibly. The local Crookston chapter of this low cost ($32 a year national plus $3.00 a month for local dues) organization meets every Thursday from Noon to 12:30 at the Carnegie next to the library. The City of Crookston twigs and branch collection will be held the second and fourth Monday of each month and will run through October. Branches must be cut in four foot lengths, bundled and placed on the curbside.

Open Swim at the Crookston Pool will be Monday-Friday 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday & Sunday Noon to 3:00 p.m.
Lap Swimming will be Monday - Friday 6:00 to 9:00 a.m.
Aqua Exercise will be Monday - Friday 9:00 to 10:00 a.m., Monday and Wednesday 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. and Tuesday and Thursday 8:00 - 9:00 p.m.

The Crookston Gun Club has begun summer trap and sporting clay leagues on Monday and Wednesday evenings starting at 6:00 pm. Everyone is invited to come out and start a team or join a team. They offer mixed teams of men, women and kids.

The City of Crookston is seeking individuals willing to serve as election judges at the 2016 Primary Election, August 9th, and/or General Election, November 8th. Community Education is looking for people interested in teaching a class during the September thru May time period. Class offerings can be a wide variety of programming related to skills and interests for youth and/or adults. Sharing a hobby, skill, or interest is what it is all about. Instructors through Community Ed will receive 80% of the revenue after expenses. Please consider sharing your skills by teaching a class. Choose the date and time that works for you.
