Registration is underway for the Cathedral's Rising Stars Prekindergarten Program at Cathedral School. Introductory pricing for 2016-2017 Rising Stars is $60/month tuition for either 2,3, or 4 1/2 days per week. Sessions will be either morning or afternoon. A registration deposit of $90 reserves a space in the program. Payment must be made in full at the start of the school year or monthly by electronic funds transfer. School starts August 31, 2016. Auditions for Prairie Fire Children’s Theater original musical production of “Cinderella” will be held on Monday, June 27 at 9 a.m. at the Climax Shelly school. Open for children grades 2 through 9th.  Cast announced after the two hour auditions with rehearsals to start afterwards and end around 2:30.  Rehearsals will be all week with final performance on Friday, July 1 at 6:45 p.m. in the Climax Shelly School auditorium.

Beginning Watercolors for Teens with Ross Hier will be 1:00 to 3:00 Monday at the Crookston Library.

Crookston School Board Meeting will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, June 27, in the gymnasium at Washington Elementary School. Just a note that the location is changed for this meeting.

The RiverView Health Care Center will host “Effective Communication Strategies’’, will be held Tuesday, June 28th, in Meeting Room 4, from 6:00 to 7:30 pm.  Attendees should use the Rehab Entrance on the south side of the building.

Wesley United Methodist Church Summer Salad Lunch will be from 11:00a.m.-1:00 p.m. Thursday, June 30th at 701 Eickhof Blvd. in Crookston. Takeout are also available, call 281-3393. 

A Driver's Refresher Course will be held on June 30th at 1:00 pm at Andy Oman's State Farm Office 423 N Main Street in Crookston. Instructor will be Suzie Coauette Cost $10, please call to register 281-3643

Come celebrate Independence Day early with a free summer meal on Thursday, June 30th from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the Lion's Shelter at the Highland Park Complex. Kids under 18 eat free, adults can purchase a meal for $4. Menu is sloppy joe on a bun, fruit skewers, corn on the cob, Italian ice cup, chocolate or white milk and punch. Provided by the Eat United Summer Food Service Program.

Safe Kids Grand Forks will be hosting free "Splash into Safety on Wednesday, July 6th at the Crookston Community Pool from 12:30pm to 2 pm. Learn about water safety, different types of life jackets and flotation devices and how to use them correctly, effects of hypothermia, pool drain safety and more at this hands on event!

The CHS 14th Annual Pirate Pride Golf Scramble will Friday, July 8th at Minakwa. Registration at 9:00 and a 10:00 Shotgun Start.  4 member teams. 18 holes of golf. $50 per person includes a T-shirt and lunch at 11:00 includes sandwich, salad and chips. The 25th Annual Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA) Camp is scheduled for July 10-16, 2016 at UMC.  

West Polk County Farm Bureau will have their annual meeting on Tuesday, July 12th at the Crookston Inn, with social at 6:00 and BBQ ribs or baked chicken meal at 6:30. Cost is $10 for adults under 12 are free. Speaker will be Warren Formo, Executive Director of the Minnesota Agricultural Water Resource Center.

Eat United with free summer meals. Free lunches will be served for all youth ages 0-18 years, Monday through Thursday from 11:30-12:30 at the Lions Shelter at Highland Park Complex. Meals will be served through August 11th but will be closed the week of July 4-7. Adults 19 years and older can eat for $4 a meal. T.H.E. Call and register today for the Quilt Minnesota Bus Trip that will be Saturday and Sunday August 6 and 7. Visit all nine shops in the East Central Sections. DNR Hunter Safety Training classes will be held starting August 16th from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Crookston Gun Club. Class is limited to 36 students, so register early. The Polk County Museum is open Tuesday through Sunday from noon to 4:00. Closed Mondays and holidays.

The City of Crookston twigs and branch collection will be held the second and fourth Monday of each month and will run through October. Branches must be cut in four foot lengths, bundled and placed on the curbside.

Afternoon open swim starts on June 20th and will be Monday-Wednesday from 1:00-3:00p.m.
Open Swim at the Crookston Pool will be Monday-Friday 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday & Sunday Noon to 3:00 p.m.
Lap Swimming will be Monday - Friday 6:00 to 9:00 a.m.
Aqua Exercise will be Monday - Friday 9:00 to 10:00 a.m., Monday and Wednesday 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. and Tuesday and Thursday 8:00 - 9:00 p.m.

The Crookston Gun Club has begun summer trap and sporting clay leagues on Monday and Wednesday evenings starting at 6:00 pm.  Everyone is invited to come out and start a team or join a team.  They offer mixed teams of men, women and kids.
